Reverend David Smith

“Reverend Smith has three decades of serving Methodist churches. Pastor David experienced God’s call to the ministry in high school. Witnessing the dedication of his father, an ordained Methodist minister, who was a Duke Divinity School professor was a major influence in David following the calling. David is an Eagle Scout.  He grew up attending Trinity United Methodist Church in Durham, North Carolina.

Since 2015 David has been our Senior Pastor.  David is an ordained Elder in Full Connection. His pastoral experience has come through serving churches in Connecticut, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

He started his education in Durham City Schools where he graduated from Hillside High.  He attended Wake Forest University where he received his undergraduate degree in  Biology with a minor in Religion. Rev. Smith graduated from Yale Divinity School where he earned a Master of Divinity degree.

Rev Smith and his  family have roots in Upstate South Carolina. David enjoys tennis, sports, and a recent interest in gardening.

Pastor Smith has deep faith in our Lord as Healer and Savior. He believes Christian Discipleship is the keystone to a more meaningful relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.”
